Ann Rowan Buchanan 

1812-1876

Ann Rowan Buchanan was the first child born in the mansion at Federal Hill, May 2, 1812, and was named after her mother. She wed Dr. Joseph Rhodes Buchanan of Frankfort in 1841 at Judge Rowan’s Louisville home. Dr. Buchanan later became famous as a physician and professor. The couple had 4 children. Ann died in Louisville in 1876 and is buried in Cave Hill cemetery in Louisville.
