William Atkinson Hill Rowan

1838-1900

William A. H. Rowan was the eldest son of John Jr & Rebecca Rowan. He was born September 17, 1838. During the Civil War he joined the Confederates as a Captain of Company D in the 1st Regiment of Kentucky Infantry. He was captured while on a raid in August 1864 and spent the rest of the war as a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Nancy “Nannie” Hardin, and they had two children. He was lost at sea in 1900.
