Farm To Table
19th Century Gardens had to be well maintained and required a variety of treatments of unique and unusual methods to ensure that there would be enough food for the workforce and owners of a large farm. Students will learn a few of the key varieties of heritage plants available to early Kentucky settlers. Join our tour guides in discovering how our period kitchen vegetable garden was used to ensure that the farm's inhabitants were well fed.
Students will learn, by hand, the methods of cultivating and maintaining kitchen gardens while also gaining experience in discovering ways to keep out unwanted garden pests using 19th century methods.
